Pine Island RVing
Folding Camping Trailers

Any visitor to Pine Island will quickly
notice that the island has been largely untouched by developers, unlike the
other barrier islands of Sanibel and

Mangrove Islands of
Pine Island
Sound
Captiva to
the west.
The main
reason for
this
phenomenon
is the absence of any white
sandy beaches. Instead, estuaries and mangrove forests ring the island's waterfront resulting in oneof the truly great fishing areas in all of Florida. People come to Pine Island to relax, fish and not be overwhelmed in a crush of tourist traffic. As a result, Pine Island keeps its quaint and friendly atmosphere.
A lightweight unit with sides that collapse for towing and storage, the folding camping trailer combines the experience of open-air tent camping with sleeping
comforts, basic conveniences and weather protection found in other RVs. Low price appeals to many first-timers as
a perfect, inexpensive entry unit into RVing.

Folding camping trailers allow ease
of use and more campsite choices
Its light weight allows for towing by most motorized vehicles, even some small compact cars. This also
allows the unit
to be unhitched from the vehicle and maneuvered by
hand into tight spots. When set up, folding camping trailers provide kitchen,
dining and sleeping facilities. The living space in a folding camping trailer is amazingly spacious with many modern home conveniences and amenities such
as stoves, refrigerators and showers available depending on the model. Some even include a slide out section, which creates additional open floor space in the center of the unit.

With a relaxed atmosphere and fishing on everyone's mind, Pine Island offers a unique setting for a vacation in nature. Several commercial campgrounds and RV parks provide ample camping opportunities. Also accessible by boat
from Bokeelia is Cayo Costa State Park, a pristine undeveloped island that offers both

primitive tent camping and rusticcabins. As an alternative to camping, a number of small hotels, motels and bed and breakfast inns provide lodging. The island's ancient Calusa Indian history pulls the visitor to a deeper understanding of the rich background of the area. Pine Island also serves as the jumping-off point for boating day trips to Useppa Island, Cabbage Key, and Cayo Costa.
